Alternative Technology on the Camp

The camp runs entirely on alternatives to fossil fuels. Windmills and the sun power our laptops and the speakers needed so we can hold discussions with a thousand or more people listening. Our shuttle-bus service from the nearest train station, at Strood, to the camp runs off recycled vegetable oil.

It's not only energy we use differently, our dirty dish water is carefully filtered so it can go back to the land without polluting it, and waste from the campsite is composted and used as fertilizer.

Socially it's different too: the Camp is set up and run by us all, so is a great place to learn and share practical skills for a sustainable future.

Of course, building a temporary eco-village in a field in Kent in just a few days is a huge challenge – but will be great fun too. If this is the part of the camp that really interests you then get in touch! Email site [at] climatecamp.org.uk

And remember, if you can, stay behind after the camp finishes to return the field back to its former state. If you can do this email site [at] climatecamp.org.uk
