Get Involved

How to get involved in the Climate Camp this year…

The climate camp is the sum of its parts and this year we hope that you want to be one of those parts! No one is paid to work for the climate camp, we are all volunteers, and there’s bound to be something you can contribute to.

Five ways to get involved….

1) First and most important - Come to the camp ! Whether for an hour, a day or a week… whatever time you have to spare between the 3rd and 11th August… use it to come to the camp. Keep an eye on the website for details of where to go nearer the time: www.climatecamp.org.uk

2) Get in touch with your local group - For the last two years people from different areas in the UK have come together to organise a “neighbourhood” at the camp. These neighbourhoods are run on DIY principles, with everyone chipping in to provide food, camping space and entertainment for all who come. No overpriced commercial caterers or chemical loos for us, we do it ourselves ! Groups will be having meetings before the camp to plan lots of practicalities, it's a great chance to meet other people who are planning to go to the camp and pick up a few new skills too. See the neighbourhoods page of the website for details. If there is no neighbourhood or group near you and you'd like to set one up, get in touch. We can offer loads of advice and support 'neighbourhoods[at]climatecamp.org.uk'

3) Come to a gathering - Decisions about the camp happen at monthly meetings held in different venues around the country. This is where all the working groups meet up, decisions are made and we all get a chance to socialise. Check the website for details of the next gathering.

4) Help spread the word. Contact us for flyers and posters, stickers and info: networking[at]climatecamp.org.uk - We will send stuff out to you asap.

5) Join a working group. We have lots of different groups working on specific things to make the camp happen. Anyone is (extremely) welcome to join any working group. You can do this either by getting in touch with one of the working groups or by coming to one of the monthly gatherings, where all the working groups meet.
